A two-day old marriage crashed because the groom felt his wife brought him bad luck. His decision to file for divorced followed a series of incidents that took place during the first two days of their lives as man and wife.
Among the string of ‘bad luck’ events include the curtains falling down in the home of the Saudi couple.
According to reports, on the first day of their marriage, the drapes in their home fell down and a waiter serving them dinner tripped and fell while serving them.
Then, on a shopping trip, the man dropped a bottle of perfume when his wife commented on the smell, local Saudi news platform, Al Marsad reports.
The man, who is identified, concluded that these events were a bad omen he first approached his parents to lay down his intentions to get rid of his new bride before filing a case in the court for a divorce.
Following news reports on this strange divorce request, social media users in Saudi Arabia in reacting to the groom for this decision to call it quits over superstitious beliefs, expressed outrage.
One user blasted him for treating marriage as a ‘trivial matter’ instead of a ‘for better for worse’ relationship.
A blogger on his part, congratulated the bride on her ‘lucky escape’ and asked why the groom had not considered that he might be to blame for the incidents.
“The woman is obviously lucky to move out of the life of an obsessed man with a sick mind,” he added.
