Man Proposes With Engagement Ring Made From His Amputated Leg (PHOTOS)

Must read

Love is blind, some may say and romance spices love up and makes it more blind. How does one explain the height a man went just to prove his love to his woman by proposing to her with an engagement ring made of bone from his amputated right leg?

Perhaps it could be quite romantic to a handful of people and repulsive to the other faction.

Mike Perrett lost the limb in 2006 after falling off a mountain while volunteering at an Indian orphanage, according to Buzzfeed.

Instead of disposing the amputated leg entirely, Perrett decided to keep part of the leg which he eventually used to propose to his wife Melita Perrett.

The medical team gave him the shin bone after he made his decision known to them.

His wife said, “He was told he was lucky to be alive. The force taken to break the bone would have skewered him if his legs had not buckled.”

Good enough, Mrs Perett loved the special engagement ring, which was designed by Ingle & Rhode and included platinum and a diamond, when she saw it for the first time in 2011.

A spokeswoman for Ingle & Rhode disclosed that the bone fragments were completely sterilized before they worked with them, so the jewelers were happy to incorporate them.

Mrs Perrett said, “I guess why it’s so special to me is because I think it shows his bravely coming to terms with something like that so positively… which has to be a good attribute for marriage.”

Now, the couple from Guernsey UK, have now been married for four years and are expecting their second child together.
