This man has proved that romance is not dead after he travelled over 6,000 miles from Denmark to California just to surprise his girlfriend.
Mathias Skaarup, who lives in Denmark, reveals he couldn’t cope with the heartache of not seeing girlfriend, Anna, for half a year.
So he decided to max out his credit card and book a ticket to see his childhood sweetheart, and she didn’t suspect a thing.
And judging by her hilarious reaction, she sure wasn’t expecting him to walk through her door.
The video, titled 10,000km To See Her, starts by showing how Mathias, 19, met 18-year-old Anna in high school three years ago.
He explains that she has moved to Santa Barbara to study, and the video shows the pair FaceTiming with each other, but he admits it is not the same.
After making an impromptu decision to book a plane ticket using his credit card, he documents his 22-hour journey on video, reaching his girlfriend late at night.
When he knocks on the door, Anna’s friend opens it while she stands there stunned, shouting ‘What the fuck are you doing here?’ before they kiss each other.
The romantic video then shows the couple visiting the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Mathias told MailOnline Travel: “Anna means so much to me and I know she feels the same way.
“It is very hard being apart for so long when we both are so young. As I say in the movie, we try to FaceTime, but it is never the same as being together.
“I had planned the whole trip some time before and had looked a lot forward to seeing her, so when I was in front of her door I almost couldn’t take the time to set up the camera.
“Her reaction was so funny. Anna has always been a very polite, but I think that half of her sentences the rest of the evening contained several curse words.”
