President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania was on Thursday January 30th 2014 elected the new Chairperson of the African Union ( AU).
The election was held during the ongoing 22nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The first vice president went to Zimbabwe, second vice president was Democratic Republic of Congo, while Nigeria emerged third vice president of AU.
Aziz, succeeds Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn.
