Military Arrests Foreigner Behind Boko Haram Videos, Equipment Seized

A foreigner has been nabbed by the Nigerian military for being behind several videos sent to online platforms by terror group Boko Haram, according to a report by Vanguard.

The unnamed man, whose nationality was not also stated in the report was allegedly arrested with some of the videos which were sent online, including those of the schoolgirls abducted by the sect in Chibok, Borno State. Recovered from him were also some sophisticated equipment.

According to unnamed military sources, the foreigner who is said to be a computer is being interrogated for suspicion of configuring the images and videos for the sect was arrested after a gun duel with the extremists in Konduga area of Borno state after they had attempted to recover the body of their slain leader “Abubakar Shekau” for burial at a site reportedly earmarked to be a shrine of some sorts for the sect.

The suspect is also said to have been giving confessional statements as to the plans of the insurgent group, their mode of operation and sponsors, statements the military say will help in the fight against terror.

The military source said: “We have made a very big breakthrough; the computer analyst is opening up and has made very big revelations on the modus operandi of the sect. We also discovered that the ICT expert is the backbone of the signals and communication links of late impersonator, Mohammed Bashir, who always posed as Abubakar Shekau, whenever he is talking on Youtube”.
