‘My Only Regret’: Cubana Chief Priest Reacts to Loss at APC Primary for Federal Seat

Must read

OWERRI, Nigeria — Pascal Okechukwu, the businessman and social media personality widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has spoken publicly following his defeat in the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.

Okechukwu, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, had contested for the party’s ticket to run for a seat in the House of Representatives.

Speaking in a video circulated online after the primary election, he said he did not regret entering the race but expressed disappointment over the level of support he received during the exercise.

“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position,” he said.

“My only regret was trusting the elders in the community. I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary.”

Earlier this year, Okechukwu announced his intention to seek the office, presenting his campaign as part of a broader push for increased youth participation and issue-focused politics.

His loss in the primary election generated reactions across social media platforms, where some users mocked the outcome and suggested that the entertainer may have underestimated the realities of political contests in Nigeria.

Amid the reactions, Ossai Ovie Success publicly defended Okechukwu against criticism.

“Why are people mocking Cubana Chief Priest? Not nice… it’s ok to try and try again,” he wrote on Facebook.

“He lost an election and so what? I am disappointed,” he added.
