NANS Faults Calls To Scrap Education Agencies

The National Association of Nigerian Students has said that they are opposed to moves by the federal government to scrap agencies in the education sector stating that the move would further reduce the standard of education in the country.

According to the Vanguard, NANS reaction follows a publication in some dailies that the federal government, in a bid to cut down on the cost of governance, would scrap some agencies in the education sector.

It was also gathered that the president of NANS Comrade Tijani, Usman said that these agencies were set-up through legislative process to carryout specific functions. He urged the federal government should investigate the activities of these agencies if they have failed and see that their is an improvement the performance of these agencies instead of scrapping them.

He furthers stated that a performance assessment which would be submitted to President Mohammadu Buhari is currently being carried out by the body.
