A newborn baby boy whose body was covered with fresh blood stains was on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 discovered beside a gutter on the race course road beside the Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna state.
A man who simply identified himself as Sani was passing by when he saw an object moving very close to the gutter and alerted some persons before they discovered that it was a baby wrapped in a cloth.
The baby was probably born on the same day he was abandoned by his mother whose reasons for taking such an action is mysterious.
According to Leadership reports, a woman who came around alongside other onlookers could not hide her emotions as she cried profusely upon sighting the new born baby.
She said amidst tears, “See how wicked people can be, some people are crying and praying for children, yet God has given to this wicked woman and she still have the heart to do this, may God forgive her.”
Also, it was gathered that it was some female journalists that picked up the baby whose umbilical cord was still intact and covered him with a veil offered by one volunteer before subsequently taking him to a nearby police station for investigations.
For the meantime, no official statement has been yet maid by the police on the issue and the baby is still in their custody.
