The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 collapsed and was rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja in a critical condition.
According to an associate and ally of the PDP chieftain, he suddenly collapsed during the inauguration of the Yobe and Borno States caretaker committees at the Wadata Plaza party secretariat of the party in Wuse Zone 5 District.
Metuh was unable to move his body and was rushed to the hospital where he was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment, a close family source confirmed to The Trent.
The source said: “The incident happened in the full glare of all those who attended the programme including party members and journalists.”
Metuh is currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for allegedly receiving N400 million from funds released to former NSA, Sambo Dasuki, to buy arms from the military.
Metuh pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and moved a bid to stop his trial which was outrightly rejected by the court.
He recently appeared before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday, April 18, 2016.
