40 Suspects Arrested For Criminal Offences In FCT

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command says it has arrested 40 suspects in connection with various criminal offences.

Mariam Yusuf, the Police public relations officer in the FCT, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, February 28, 2021, in Abuja, NAN reports.

Yusuf listed the offences to include: car snatching, drug peddling, armed robbery, and public nuisance within the territory.

She said the suspects were arrested during coordinated raids and patrols along Abaji, Gwarinpa, Asokoro, Jabi-Daki Biyu, and Mabushi axis of the city between February 18 and February 24.

According to her, one White Toyota Hilux, one Toyota Corolla, one locally fabricated rifle, 21 unexpended cartridges, and one machine gun were recovered from the suspects.

She further revealed that all the suspects have been arraigned in court except the car snatching syndicates, who will be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.

The PPRO urged FCT residents to remain calm, law-abiding and ensure compliance with all COVID-19 regulations.
