The police in Delta have apprehended one Emeka Odili and five members of a syndicate group by detectives attached to the state police command in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The six suspects were arrested as they attempted selling a three year old child identified as Chukwuka.

It was learnt that the syndicate group, prior to their arrest, had sold two children to traffickers and disburse the proceeds of N1.3m among themselves.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest to journalists in Asaba, said the 3-year-old boy had been trafficked to Onitsha, Anambra State before they were apprehended by the police.
The syndicate group ran out of luck when the police, acting on a tip off by some members of the public, arrested Emeka Odili and his collaborators.

The PPRO said the suspects were nabbed in Onitsha, Anambra State, noting that the police also apprehended the girlfriend of one of the suspects, Blessing, who has been notoriously involved in the crime over the years.

The Police Public Relations Officer revealed that the mother of the recent victim, who lives in Asaba, reported the incident to the A Division of the Delta Police Command in Asaba, leading to dispatching the police detectives who trailed the traffickers to Onitsha and apprehended them.
