The officials of the Edo state police command have on Saturday, October 04, 2014 arrested a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) for allegedly forging the letter headed paper of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and signature of the chairman of ASUU, UNIBEN chapter, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina.
According to reports, the police had been on his trail for over a month and they finally nabbed him recently.
It was learnt that Emina purportedly used the forged letter headed paper to write a petition to the Minister of Education, reporting that the current Vice Chancellor of the school. Professor Oshodin was no longer fit to pilot the dealings of the university due to some health issues he is currently battling with.
He pointed out to the minister, that there was pressing need for an Acting Vice Chancellor to be appointed in the school for proper management of their affairs.
