Lagos Police Boss Cautions Public On Sale Of Alcoholic Drinks To Officers

Edgal Imohimi, the Lagos State commissioner of police has appealed to the people of the state to desist from offering or giving alcoholic drinks to policemen.

This directive was given in a statement issued on Thursday, January 25, 2018 signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Chike Oti.

The appeal became necessary in view of the misconduct of some policemen after consumption alcoholic beverages allegedly given to them by friends, party makers.

The commissioner further warned that any member of the public who offered a policeman alcoholic beverage would have to explain to the police authorities, also any officer found under the influence of alcohol would face the strictest possible punishment for drunkenness as stipulated in the Police Act.

He stated that should there be any need to offer them drinks, it must be mineral water or non alcoholic beverages.

In a similar vein, the commissioner of police warned all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to locate and shut down all shops within their barracks, Area Command and Divisional premises where alcoholic beverages are sold or consumed in line with Nigeria Police Rules and Regulations.
