Deposed King Ilomunya Of Imo Appointed Chancellor Federal University Kebbi By Jonathan

Must read

Eze Cletus Ilomunya, once a monarch in Imo State who was deposed by Governor Rochas Okorocha has been appointed the Chancellor of a Federal University, in Benin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The traditional ruler who, reportedly, has close ties with President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration having been nominated as one of the delegates during the national conference last year, is contesting his dismissal by Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha at the Supreme court.

However, the Imo State governor has also protested the appointment of Ilomunya as Chancellor of the Federal University in Kebbi.

In a statement in Owerri, May 6, 2015 by the Senior Special Assistant Media to the governor, Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor said the appointment must have been given to Ilomuanya wrongly in his capacity as a traditional ruler and chairman of the state council of traditional rulers.

He stressed that Ilomuanya had long been removed by the state government, adding that a case to that effect is still pending at the Supreme Court.

The governor said though they were not bothered about who gets what from the president in terms of appointments because he has the legal backing to make appointments, it however becomes disturbing when some appointments impugn on the lawful actions of a state government or on the authority of a federating state.
