ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has announced major appointments in his administration, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as Chief of Staff.

The announcement was made during a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, in Abuja on Friday, June 2, 2023.

Tinubu also appointed Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.

In a significant move, former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, was named Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Abiodun Oladunjoye, the Director of Information, disclosed these appointments in a statement on Friday.

These strategic appointments come at a time when President Tinubu is looking to consolidate his administration’s efforts and strengthen governance.

The reshuffle has brought seasoned political figures into key roles, potentially boosting the administration’s capacity to deliver on its campaign promises.

Gbajabiamila, as the new Chief of Staff, will coordinate the activities of the president’s office and serve as a key adviser.

Hadejia’s appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff places him in a supportive role to Gbajabiamila, and Akume, as the Secretary to the Government, will handle matters of governance and policy implementation.

The impact of these appointments on the functioning of Tinubu’s administration and their contribution to Nigeria’s political landscape remains to be seen.
