Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan on Monday, March 23, 2015 stated that the decamping of Rivers State Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a sign that the party was crumbling.
Dame Jonathan made the assertion while addressing a crowd at the PDP rally in Onitsha, Anambra State.
She went on to poke fun at the opposition, saying that with the numerous name change the party has gone through over the years, it would surprise no one if the APC changes its name to Ebola.
She said: “Imagine the deputy of a whole director-general of the APC presidential campaign decamping, does that not show that the party is dead?
“The party is dead and buried and March 28 is its burial. The party will not live again.
“The way things are going, APC will soon bear Ebola.Dame Jonathan further reminded people of the South East region what their lot had been in the administrations of both her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan and the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
She said: “Is Mbakwe [former Imo state governor] corrupt? Yet you jailed him. What of Jim Nwobodo [former Anambra state governor]? Yet u jailed him. Don’t support a man that would imprison your mother and father.
“Jonathan is our messiah. He made Ihejiriaka the chief of army staff and has helped many of our people. Igbos are not fools. We know whom to support. PDP has come to stay.”
