A St. Cloud, Minnesota mother, father and daughter died just days apart.

Sandy Schulte, 57, died on Friday, March 7 of “a long illness,” according to the St. Cloud Times. Hours later, her mom, Sharon Schulte, 76, died from lung cancer that had metastasized to her brain. Then, last Tuesday, Sharon’s husband, Thomas Schulte, died at a hospice at age 77.

“Sandy was born with Down syndrome,” Kim Butkowski, Sandy’s sister, said. “She was the oldest of us kids and my mom and dad promised they were going to keep her at home with them as long as they could.”

She told The Huffington Post, “My brothers and I are doing fine. It’s going OK.

Butkowski told the Daily Mail that the three family members were incredibly close.

“They were connected at the soul in a way that was quite incredible,” she said. “With all three, you really couldn’t tell where one ended and the other one started.”

A joint obituary for the Schulte’s said Sandy, “was very loving and hugged everyone and loved looking at pictures and celebrating birthdays, especially her own.”

Sharon was described as “a caring, creative, and generous person,” and her husband was characterized as “a hard worker” and a “diehard Green Bay Packers Football fan.”

Funeral services for all three family members took place on Friday at a funeral home in St. Cloud.
