LONDON, United Kingdom — Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson appears fully nude in the science-fiction film Under the Skin, in which she portrays an extraterrestrial being who assumes the appearance of a woman to lure unsuspecting men.
The film, released in 2014, features several scenes of Johansson without clothing, marking a departure from many of her previous screen roles.
The actress, who was 30 when photographs from the film circulated online in March 2015, plays a mysterious woman who travels through Scotland, approaching men and drawing them into dangerous encounters.
Johansson Takes on Unusual Science-Fiction Role
Under the Skin follows an alien who inhabits a human body and moves among people while concealing her true identity.
The character uses her appearance to attract men, including hitchhikers, who become targets of her predatory behaviour.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Dutch-born author Michel Faber.
Johansson’s performance includes scenes of full-frontal nudity, with the actress appearing completely unclothed as part of the film’s exploration of the alien character’s physical form.
The role places Johansson at the centre of a story about an extraterrestrial being attempting to navigate human society while pursuing an undisclosed purpose.
Nude Scenes From Film Circulate Online
Photographs showing Johansson’s nude scenes in Under the Skin subsequently appeared on entertainment websites, including Blemish.
The images, taken from the film, show the actress during several sequences in which her character appears without clothing.
Unlike the private photographs of Johansson that had previously circulated without her consent, the images from Under the Skin originate from her performance in a commercially released motion picture.
The film received a limited theatrical release in 2014.
