Boko Haram: Soldiers, Residents Flee Towns In Gwoza East Of Borno

Must read

Several border towns in Borno state are living in fear over insecurity of being attack by the Boko Haram insurgent as the military authorities have failed to deploy troops to the communities.

This was made know to newsmen by the former vice chairman of Gwoza Local Government, Mr. Francis Nduka, and Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Hamman Ahmadu asserting that the residents of Gwoza East due to impending attack have relocated to mountain caves in Gwoza hill.

He said the affected communities are Gathahure, Gjigga, Kunde, Hwa’a, Hrazah and Hembe hill settlements who now survive on eating wild fruits and roots as they are scared to come down to the plains to get food. The insurgent recently had touched houses in the six border communities and also forcefully recruiting youths into the sect during the process.

He appealed to the military to intervene by deploying personnel to these affected areas.
