To delight in doing something is to get a lot of pleasure or enjoyment from it. So when the Psalmist spoke about delighting yourself in the Lord, he was talking about your love for God and your passion for the things of God.
How much do you love the Lord? How passionate are you about being in His presence? How excited are you about opportunities to work for Him? Do you spend time doing the things that please Him? Or are you always doing those things that grieve Him?
When a father is happy, he is motivated to give even without you having to ask him for anything. God is a like that too. You won’t need to pray and fast much if you dedicate yourself to doing the things that excite Him. Yes, God has emotions too! Delight yourself in Him and He won’t hesitate to give you the desires of your heart. Amen.
