I Corinthians 14:3 NKJV “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.”
Apostle Paul had told them in verse 1 of the same book and chapter that they should pursue spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy, and his reason was that he who speaks in tongues edifies only himself, while he who prophesies edifies others.
What God is teaching us today is that it is His will for us to speak words of encouragement to one other rather than heart-breaking and destructive words. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
Resist the urge to speak against other people; instead consistently practice ministering to others with your words. If possible, let it be all you ever say. Speak words of healing, words of salvation, words of life, words of hope, words of peace, words of comfort, and words of deliverance. God will bless you as you do.
