Spirit And Life Devotional: The Cost Of Obedience

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

[pull_quote_center]Numbers 22:18: “And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak will give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the Lord my God, to do less or more.”[/pull_quote_center]

Obeying God is not always going to be convenient. Obeying God is not always going to be easy. Sometimes, you’re going to lose a lot for choosing to obey God; sometimes, you will literally fight wars just to obey God: whatever the cost, you must choose to obey the Lord.

Joseph went to prison for obeying God. His master’s wife wanted him to sleep with her, but Joseph wouldn’t disobey the laws of God. When you are tempted to disobey God; when you are lured with the nicest things of life, to make you disobey God’s word, what are you going to do?

But you know, the rewards of obedience are greater than whatever you may gain by disobedience. The gains of disobedience are temporal, but when we live a life of obedience, we’re rewarded both in this life and in the life to come. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19).
