“Jesus answered, ‘My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.’” – John 18:36 NLT
We belong to the kingdom of God, and even though we are in this world, we must live with the consciousness that we are not of this earthly kingdom.
When Satan tempted Jesus, the Bible says that he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of this world, saying, “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them, because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.” Luke 4:5-7. Did you see that? Satan said that the kingdoms of the world belong to him and that he could give them to anyone he likes. And Jesus did not object to it. The Bible calls Satan the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). You now know why it’s easy for the ungodly to prosper, especially when they have sacrificed their souls to the devil and made covenants with him.
That’s why we shouldn’t love the world as believers. 1 John 2:15 says, “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.” We shouldn’t be like Demas who forsook Paul and the ministry because of the things of the world. While we can have the things of the world, we should live by the principles of the kingdom of God rather than devilish principles of the world. Amen.
I live by the word of God, as a citizen of the kingdom of God. I do not love the world neither do I live by the principles and wisdom of the world. Never will I forsake the things of God because of the things of the world; God is always first in my life. Amen.
