2 Corinthians 8:7 NLT “Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us —I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.”
Excellence in every area of life is the will of God for everyone of us. As it is said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.” In anything God has given us the grace to do, within and without the church, we are to strive to excel in it.
But not many have the desire to excel in giving. You have quite a lot of people eager to excel in preaching, prayer, praise and maybe fasting, but not so many people have a desire to always give more and more. God desires that we excel in giving as well.
Giving is a proof of love. Truth is, the more we love, the greater our desire to give unto the Lord. And that’s why God loves cheerful givers! Because they are madly in love with Him! Don’t be one of those who complains and grumbles whenever there’s an opportunity to give; remember the words of Jesus; it is more blessed to give than to receive.
