[pull_quote_center]”If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.” James 1:26 [/pull_quote_center]
You’re not spiritually mature just because you can quote many scriptures and pray and fast for several hours; no, spirituality and maturity is determined by how you use your mouth!
A spiritual babe has not learned to speak right. As he grows he understands the importance of words, so he controls his mouth. 1 Peter 2:1-2 says, “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” That’s it: anyone still using his mouth recklessly is a babe in the things of God, irrespective of how long they’ve been saved.
Start controlling your mouth. If you can’t speak right it’s better to shut up. Job did not sin with his mouth and he was commended for it, and Jesus, when He was abused and humiliated spoke no guile. Start controlling your mouth, and you will see improvements in your life. God help us. Amen.
