The State Security Service (SSS) on Friday January 24th 2014 stormed the home of former FCT minister, Nasir El-Rufai to pick him for questioning at their office in Abuja, according to tweets by his son Bello El-Rufai.
The SS just came to our house to “arrest” Mallam. They got told he had gone to pray, and asked of his children and their mother.

They threatened to force their way through the gate when they come back. You don’t need to force your way if you have an arrest warrant.

El-Rufai was summoned for questioning by the SSS over provocative statements credited to him that there might be violence if the 2015 general elections were not free and fair.

The Media Adviser to the APC stalwart, Muyiwa Adekeye, confirmed the invitation but however said his principal would not honour it.
El-Rufai refused to respond to the SSS’ invitation, his reason being that he had a pending suit against the agency over his detention in a hotel in Awka, Anambra State, during the governorship election in that state on November 16th 2013.
According to reports, the former FCT minister also told the Director General of the Service, Ita Ekpeyong, that he was willing to meet with him in his home or office or that in the alternative the SSS should produce a warrant of arrest.
As a result of his failure to honour the invited by the SSS, officers went to his home.
El-Rufai was not at home at the time they arrived.
