Sugarcane Seller, 25, Stabs 20-Year-Old Colleague To Death In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested one Jubrin Mohammed for alleged murder in the commercial city of Onitsha.

The 20-year-old sugarcane seller from Adamawa State was said to have stabbed to death one Hamisu Ibrahim, 25 years old, also a sugarcane seller, during a fight.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor while relatives of the deceased declined autopsy on religious ground.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, said: “On the September 30, 2019, at about 10:00am there was a report at Awada Police Station that one Jubrin Mohammed ‘m’ aged 20 years of Jigawa Sate and a sugar cane seller allegedly stabbed and killed one Hamisu Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 25 years, also a sugar cane seller from same state during a fight along Onitsha-Enugu Express way, Onitsha.

“The scene of crime was visited by Police detectives attached to Awada Division and suspect arrested.

“Victim was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor while relatives of the deceased declined autopsy on religious ground.

“However, photograph was taken and corpse released to relatives as requested for burial according to Islamic rites.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, John B. Abang. has ordered for the transfer of the case to the State CID for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
