A body was discovered hanging at the site of a billboard when workers came to do repairs to the giant billboard in the city of Dongyang in east China’s Zhejiang province.
The body had apparently been hanging there for years following a suspected suicide and was ignored for so long it had become mummified before it was removed.
Police believe the body may have been left, despite thousands of people driving past every day, as those who saw it assumed it was part of an advertising stunt, the Daily Mail reports.

A body was left hanging for years at the site of a billboard in China, despite thousands of people driving past it every day. The body was only discovered when workers came to repair the billboard and noticed the smell
According to police, who are investigating the apparent suicide, the massive billboard had been put up because of the huge volume of traffic that heads down the road every day.
Officers believe the body must have been seen by a number of people, although nobody reported it.
‘We can only assume that people who saw it and recognised what it looks like must’ve thought it was part of an advertising stunt.’
Officers say it will be difficult to determine the cause of death. There has been no identification of the body, or even an indication as to whether it was a man or a woman
It was only when the board stopped working properly and workers came to repair it that they noticed the smell before spotting the body and calling police.
Officers say it will be difficult to determine the cause of death. There has been no identification of the body, or even an indication as to whether it was a man or a woman.
The body is now undergoing forensic tests.
Police believe birds may have eaten part of the corpse before it was found.
