NEW YORK, USA — Nigerian music sensation, Temilade Openiyi, known globally as Tems, is set to headline the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup final halftime show, taking place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the MetLife Stadium in New York.

The show marks a historic milestone for FIFA and global music culture, coinciding with the finale of the reimagined 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The performance, produced by Global Citizen, will feature a high-profile, multicultural line-up including Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and American pop icon Doja Cat.

The announcement signals a deepening of the relationship between global entertainment and social impact, with the event aiming to raise awareness and funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund (FGCEF).

Tems, a Grammy-winning artist acclaimed for her soulful sound and artistic range, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming performance.

“We’re going to bring the world together for a beautiful moment — to celebrate football, feel the unity that music brings, and help improve the lives of millions of children through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,” she said.

“I can’t wait. See you at the FIFA Club World Cup final!”

The halftime show is not only a celebration of football and music but also a humanitarian effort.

The FGCEF, spearheaded by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen co-founder Hugh Evans, aims to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children globally.

Global Citizen described the show as a “moment to spotlight unity, impact, and entertainment,” with Tems’ performance expected to embody the fund’s mission of inspiring action through art.

Tems’ inclusion as headliner places Nigerian and African artistry at the forefront of an international sporting spectacle.

Her performance on one of football’s biggest global stages reflects not only her meteoric rise but also the growing influence of African music on the world stage.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, hosted by the United States, runs from 14 June to 13 July and features 32 of the world’s top club teams.

The final, and its accompanying halftime show, is expected to draw a record global audience.
