Victims of the October 20 Lekki Tollgate Shooting have shared their experience to Arise News.
In a sad video released on Friday, December 4, 2020, the victims and their families recount their terrifying experience when Nigerian soldiers shoot at peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.
Speaking from a safe house in Lagos, one of the victims, Edwin Augustine, said the bullet hit him in his thigh.
He added that he passed out and woke up the following day in Ikeje General Hospital.
Augustine said the bullet is still in his tight causing him so much discomfort. He said he witnessed a man beside him take a bullet to his side.
“The bullet in me is even giving me discomfort. (The bullet is) affecting my leg, making it swell up everyday”, he said.
He added: “I wonder why the government is saying they didn’t shoot at us when I still have a bullet inside my body.”
Olufunmi Aiyedungbe, sister of a victim of the shooting who died from bullet wounds, says her, brother Gabriel Aiyedungbe, was hospitalised for two weeks before news about his condition reached his family.
Sadly, Gabriel died two days after his family received the news of his shooting.
