Today Is The Birthday Of Barrister Empero Gabriel Ogbonna [MUST READ]

Must read

This month makes it five months he has been in State Security Service, SSS, detention after being first arrested on March 24 on allegation of SHARING a post deemed defamatory to the governor of Abia state. Curiously though, none of those who originated the post was arrested. No other person who shared the post was arrested, leaving discerning mind with no option but to believe the Item born lawyer was targeted for his ceaseless criticism of the general governmentlessness in Abia.

After Empero was granted bail, just as he was about leaving the prison, the Abia state Chief of staff Dr-acb Agbazuere led a team of SSS to arrest him again, this is according to Empero’s lawyer, one Barrister Madu.

The SSS held Empero in-communicado for months denying him access to both his lawyer as well as families. Responding to a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by Empero’s lawyer on his behalf, the SSS SHAMELESSLY told the court that they are holding the human rights activist for …….. wait for it…

(1) Insulting the President and calling for his impeachment

(2) Insulting the North and referring to Nigeria as an “Islamic Republic” among others.

(I HAVE, IN MY POSSESSION, COPIES OF THE PAPERS SUBMITTED TO THE COURT BY THE SSS)

Yesterday, for the very first time in months, they produced Empero in court.

But don’t forget, THE SSS DIDN’T JUST CAME FOR EMPERO. FELLOW IGBOS, FELLOW ABIANS WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO BE EMPERO’S BROTHER SOLD HIM TO THE SSS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY COULD NO LONGER STAND HIS CRITICISM OF THEIR MAL-ADMINISTRATION. So whatever Empero is going through today is because his own so called brothers sold him to outsiders for no just cause. Don’t ever forget this.

Happy birthday, dear Empero. You may be in prison, far removed from your beautiful wife and new born baby but believe me, you are freer than those in Abia who plotted your unjust incarceration. And it gladdens me to note that your arrest and detention has given rise to a new generation of Abia youths sworn to carry on from where you stopped in holding their Politicians to account.

You will come out stronger.

To the govt of Abia and all of you young people and so called activists from the state who have continued to turn a blind eye to this injustice, SHAME ON YOU!!

Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR EMPERO. You will never be forgotten. Guys, please join me in wishing Empero a happy birthday.
