[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s the world gears up for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup, unfortunately for us, it will be the first time our Super Eagles have missed out on the tournament since 2006. The massive football festival will be taking place for the first time in the Middle East, with the host country being Qatar. Despite there sadly being no Nigerian team on display, there will be lots of other African representation, with there being a total of 5 teams from the continent. These will be Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana, Tunisia, and Morocco.

Whilst we enjoy watching the fabulous football on show, our eyes will also be drawn to some of the highly fashionable attire that will be worn by some of the players during their downtime. This is because these highly-paid athletes are able to adorn themselves with some of the most luxurious fashion designs available. Not all of them get it right though, so let’s discuss our picks for the most stylish African footballers who will soon be heading to World Cup 2022. Read along to see if you agree with our choices.

Hakim Ziyech

This Moroccan winger has one of the deadliest left pegs in the whole of football. Hakim Ziyech is revered for his magic wand of a left foot, which can ping a ball across the field with miraculous accuracy. The now 29-year-old currently plays for English Premier League team Chelsea, having moved to the London club back in 2020. He actually announced his retirement from his national team earlier in 2022, but after the manager, he fell out with was sacked, he’s now back in the Morocco squad, and will be heading to the World Cup.

Whilst his left foot might make the headlines on the pitch, it’s his exquisite sartorial choices that capture the imagination of it. He’s a massive fan of luxury sportswear brands and is a great inspiration for how to style yourself when it’s a proper casual vibe, just scroll through these 30 luxurious lifestyle photos of himto see what we mean. One of his favourite looks includes high-end t-shirts, featuring brands such as Balenciaga, and an ever-dependable black hoodie paired with baggy jeans.

Andre Ayew

As captain of Ghana, Andre Ayew will be hoping to lead his side further than any African team has gone before in a World Cup, and help guide them through to the Semi-Finals. He was actually in the Ghanaian side that last nearly got that far, in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Disastrously though, the African team wascheated out of it by Uruguayan Luis Suarez’s handball off the line. The Black Stars will have their chance at revenge now, as they’re actually in the same group as Uruguay this time round.

Whilst it’s unknown what will happen in that seismic match, we do know that the 32-year-old will be looking super smooth whatever. He’s become renowned for his fashion taste and has shown he isn’t afraid to make bold choices when either dressing up or down. When it’s a more relaxed feeling, he opts for statement tracksuits, with the Gucci logo showing up often, but when it’s a more formal occasion, he’s just as comfortable rocking elegant suits. Ayew looks so sharp dressed up, that it’s clear he’s got all the secrets to getting the best church suits for Sundays.

Andre Onana

The towering Cameroonian, Andre Onana, has become one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation, with him impressing for 6 seasons at the Dutch giant’s Ajax. These stand-out performances made him one of the hottest properties in football, and he was reportedly sought after by some of the biggest clubs in Europe. The 26-year-old ended up heading to Italy though, moving to Inter Milan in July 2022. Onana will fit in wonderfully at the seriously stylish Milan, as he’s a dapper guy. He’s regularly sighted in snazzy designer jackets that proudly showcase the Cameroon colours, as well as flashy sneakers that will have sneakerheadsdrooling.

There’s little doubt that with him between the sticks Cameroon will be the ones to watch at the World Cup, but they’re in a tricky group with both Switzerland and Serbia, plus the bookmakers’ favourites to win the entire thing, Brazil.
