UPDATE: Policeman Who Shot And Killed Aide Of Governor Orji’s Son Charged To Court

UMUAHIA—A 29-year-old dismissed police man, Tijani Oseni was yesterday, April 16, 2014 arraigned before an Umuahia Chief Magistrate Court for the killing of John Ndubuka, the late former Personal Assistant to Mr. Chinedu Orji, the first son of Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State.

Oseni was arraigned by the Commissioner of Police through Police Prosecutor, Mrs. Esther Wosu, on one-count charge of shooting late John Ndubuka with AK 47 rifle, an offence punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 80, Vol. 3 Laws of Abia State 2005.

The charge, No. U/135C/2014, read: “That you Tijani Oseni ‘m’ on February 15, 2014, at Old Umuahia Main Market in Umuahia North Magisterial District, without lawful excuse, killed one John Ndubuka ‘m’ by shooting him with AK 47 rifle and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 80, Vol. 3 Laws of Abia State 2005″.

After the charge was read out, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. John Ukpai, ordered that the case file and other exhibits relating to the matter be transferred the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for further action.

He adjourned the matter to May 12, 2014, for report of compliance to the order.
