US-Led Coalition Airstrikes Deal Major Blow To ISIS In Iraq

The US-led coalition has on Sunday, November 9, 2014 targeted top militants during an air strikes near the Iraqi city of Mosul.

Reports hold that this will be the second strike on the ISIL following the attack on Friday, November 7, 2014 military which has been rumored to have killed Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the ISIL leader.

In a reactionary violence on Saturday, November 8, 2014 the ISIL sect had reportedly killed no less that 33 people in a wave of car bombings against Shiite areas in Baghdad, pointing to the clamor for security challenge facing Iraqis especially within government-controlled zones.

According to US central command, coalition aircraft conducted a series of air strikes against “a gathering of ISIL leaders near Mosul” where a convoy of 10 armored vehicles from the group was destroyed.

Central command spokesman, Patrick Ryder said it cannot be confirm if ISIL leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi was among those present the gathering but he was sure that large cross section of those present have been killed.

He admitted that the death of Al Baghdadi, who has proclaimed himself the “caliph” of a state straddling Iraq and Syria, would be a major victory for the US-led coalition.

The US government has placed a ransom fee ofUS$10 million (Dh36.7m) for the capture of Al Baghdadi,,who has been argued to be more than Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri.

Al baghdadin appeared In a video posted online in July, 2014 where he adjoined all Muslims to obey and follow his course during a sermon in Mosul.

An Iraqi TV station, Al Arabiya TV had reported that Al Baghdadi had been wounded, while another local Iraqi channel said one of his aides was killed.

Iraqi leaders has also commended US military trainers who will aid its fight against militants.

Iraqi prime minister, Haider Al Abadi said the US military intervantion might be a step little late, but it is a welcome development. .

The Iraqi government had requested that members of the international coalition assist in training its local armed forces.

Report from the prime minister’s office holds that five Iraqi training camps have been selected as the coalition has begun to send the trainers to each location.
