Volker Finke Sacked By Cameroonian Football Federation

Must read

67-year-old German manager, Volker Finke ceases to be the coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

The Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) announced Finke’s sack on Friday, October 30, 2015. This comes as a shock as the Indomitable Lions have a vital CAF World Cup qualifier against Niger in a fortnight.

Alexandre Belinga has been appointed as the interim manager of the Cameroonian football team and will be assisted by another Cameroonian, Bonaventure Djonkep.

Finke has been in charge of Cameroon’s national football team since May 2013 but has been under pressure in recent times after poor results. He was in charge of the Indomitable Lions at the Brazil 2014 World Cup where Cameroon lost all three group games against Mexico, Croatia and the hosts.

Cameroon also didn’t make it beyond the group stage at the 2015 African Cup of Nations.
