Spokesperson of the widows, Mrs. Nandir Adanche, made the appeal to the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, who made a donation of food items to them for the New Year celebration on behalf of the IG.

Presenting the items, which included 30 bags of rice, eight cartons of Turkey brand of vegetable oil as well as a cow, the CP said the gifts were courtesy of the office of the IG who remembered the widows in this season.

He urged the widows to take solace in God and ensure they trained their children in Godly way, so they could impact the society positively.

Olakpe further urged them not to blame God but remember that He had reason for whatever happened in life.

Olakpe said: “The IG remembers the living and the dead this season. He made provision for these items for widows of officers who died while on duty. Do not blame God but rather take solace in Him as He knows everything. Don’t be discouraged but trust him for strength to be able to nurture your children into responsible citizens of the country.”

He encouraged them to be hopeful as God would not forsake them, assuring that the IG had their interest at heart. The widows appreciated the efforts but appealed for the payment of their husbands’ entitlements, so they could attend to pressing family needs.
