NAN- A 45-year-old caterer, Madam Mercy Samuel, on Wednesday prayed an Orile Agege Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her 20-year-old marriage on ground of desertion.
The petitioner, who resides at 31, Abibatu St., Papa Ashafa, Agege, Lagos, told the court that her husband abandoned her and the kids since eleven years ago.
Mercy added that her husband had stopped providing for the upkeep of the house and does not know the children’s school, let alone paying their school fees.
“My husband now stays in Kogi state and I don’t know anything about him again, I cannot continue bearing his name when he does not care about me and the kids.
“Things were tough for me at a particular time when I was sent out of the house with the kids.
“I cannot afford to feed until my family and friends came to my rescue and secured an apartment for me.
“I want the court to dissolve the union and grant me the custody of my children,’’ the mother of three, aged between 19 and 12 twelve years, said.
However, her husband, Mr Femi Samuel, failed to appear in court for the fifth time.
The Court President, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, told the petitioner to maintain the peace and adjourned the case to Jan. 22 for judgment.
