The life of a man, Bankole Charles of Ondo state had been cut short by a 28-year-old woman, Loretta Odikagbo who he met on Badoo social dating platform two years ago.
Odikagbo murdered him after she discovered he was married.
Reports had it that the duo had met online and kicked off a love affair but Charles, a staff with Halliburton Nigeria Limited, never mentioned to Odikagbo that he was married with children.
According to Pulse NG, the woman confronted Charles who admitted that he was actually married but promised to buy her a car as a way of compensating her.
The culprits were arrested after the crime although the second man escaped and is yet to be nabbed by the officials of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
While confessing the crime amidst regrets, Odikagbo said she actually connived with her in-law, Moses and a friend of his to help her harass the deceased so she could extort some money from him.
She disclosed that Moses and his friend tied Charles up on a rainy night before she left with his ATM card in the company of the third man who is still at large.
Odikagbo further claimed that she was not aware that Charles had died until she was arrested and shown the pictures of his lifeless body.
I feel so terrible and primitive. I am guilty of the crime. Bankole was my first Internet boyfriend; I am not used to meeting people on the Internet or Facebook. I blame my action on hanging out with wrong friends,”said Odikagbo.
On the other hand, Moses gave his own account of the incident which was contrary to Odikagbo’s version. He disclosed that Odikagbo had called and complained to him how the deceased had failed to give her some money to compensate her after their relationship went sour following Odikagbo’ discovery that Charles was married.
He said, “When we stepped into the room, I pointed the torch light on the man and told him that he befriended our sister for such a period of time, and pushed her out empty and without shelter, no settlement.
‘The man pleaded that we should wait, that he was going to settle her. At that point, she started to slap the man all over his face and used the tape to tape his mouth, after which the other boy tied his legs and hands.
He added, “It was then she asked the man for his ATM card and pin; she got them and went to the ATM point with the boy, while I was left with the man in case the pin failed. While they left for the ATM, they carried the man’s phone and laptop.
“She now went to the man’s kitchen and brought polythene bag which she wore on the man’s head and sat on it. As the man was struggling, I held his head until the man was motionless.
After the incident, Odikagbo reportedly gave Ime a sum of N28, 000 only as part of his share from the money she got from the deceased.
