Woman, 24, Arrested For Luring 3 Ladies Into Prostitution

A woman, 24, who resides in Ibafo area of Lagos state was arraigned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP for allegedly luring three girls aged 15, 16 and 22 years old into prostitution.

Ife Yusuf, was taken before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, February 2, 2015 where she received nine-count charges on human trafficking.

The NAPTIP prosecutor, Mrs. Kehinde Falade, said Yusuf was being tried for deceitfully inducing the victims (names withheld) into prostitution.

The accused who was arrested on December 20, 2012 in Ketu area of the state had reportedly obtained travelling documents to BurkinaFaso for the victims who she intends would become commercial sex workers otherwise known as prostitution when they finally travel.

Yusuf however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against her in the court.

The defendant’s lawyer, Mr. Segun Onikoyi, thereafter pleaded with the court to admit her to bail in liberal terms.

She was admitted to bail by the presiding judge Ofili-Ajumogobia,in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum but remanded in custody pending on when she meets the conditions of her bail..

The case was adjourned till Saturday, March 6, 2015 for further hearing and trial.
