A man identified only as Mr Ebele has been charged for allegedly stealing six cartons of Indomie noodles valued at N7,800 from one Margaret Adaha’s shop.

It was gathered that the defendant reportedly stole the noodles from the complainant’s shop while she was trying to find his balance for some goods he purchased from her shop located at Seme Border.

The prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Uko, said: “The accused came to buy something from the complainant’s shop.

“When the owner of the shop went to look for other denominations to balance the accused for what he had paid for, the accused took six cartons of noodles from the complainant’s shop into his car and ran away.

“The accused was apprehended before he could get away with the stolen items.’’

According to the prosecutor, the offence is a breach of section 285 of the criminal code, laws of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011.

Counsel to the defendant, Tayo Bello, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail and assured that he would not skip jail since investigation of the theft is still ongoing.

The magistrate, Mr Abiodun Etti, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20,000 on the condition that the accused must produce 2 sureties whose tax payment should be verified.

Etti subsequently adjourned the case till Tuesday, January 26, 2016 for further hearing.
