A 28-year-old mother has been arrested after she allegedly sold her 3-month-old baby girl to another woman for the sum of N300,000 in Bayelsa State.
The woman identified as Oyikepreye Enoch was arrested on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 by officials attached to the Akenfa Division, following a tip-off.
The Public Relations officer of the command, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident said: “The suspect sold her child to one Esther Tony, 30, for N300,000.”
Vanguard reports that both suspects were undergoing interrogation at the Akenfa Police Station, Yenagoa, the state capital.
