2 Eko Hotel Staff, Cab Driver Arrested Over Alleged Theft Of N55, 000 Chickens

Two staff members of Eko Hotel and Suites and a cab driver, were on Thursday, February 18, 2016 charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for allegedly stealing chickens worth N55, 000.

The trio pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing before they were granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Among the accused  were 40-year-old Olabode Jacob, a steward, 40-year-old Sunday Ossoua, a gardener, and 42-year-old Rapheal Addoho, a cab drive.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 12, at Eko Hotel and Suites, No. 14/15, Adetokunbo Ademola St., Victoria Island, Lagos State, Vanguard reports.

He said that the accused allegedly conspired and stole the chicken, property of Eko Hotel and Suites.

He said: “The accused were nearly lynched when they were caught and that would have breach of peace.”

Emby said that the offences contravened Sections 285 (7), 166 (d) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mr W. A. Balogun, ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and their addresses verified. He adjourned the case to March 10 for mention.”
