9 Dead, 3 Rescued In Ghastly Road Accident In Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of nine persons, while three others were rescued in a road accident at Fada dam, Dayi road in Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement issued to journalists by its spokesperson, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, in Kano.

He said the accident occurred on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Abdullahi said, “we received an emergency cat from our station at about 06:45 p.m. from one Ali Mai-faci, that a Golf Wagon had fallen inside fada dam.

On receiving the information, we quickly sent out our rescue team to the scene at about 07:10 p.m to bring the victims out.

“On arrival, we found out that it was a vehicle conveying about 12 people, without registration number, coming from Kano, heading to Katsina.

“With good efforts of our men and local fishers, we successfully rescued three persons alive.

” Nine people were rescued unconscious and conveyed to Gwarzo General Hospital for medical attention while doctors on duty confirmed the victims dead,” he said.

Abdullahi further explained that the victims rescued were from Katsina State and all with unknown names.

He added that the accident involved two babies of about six months old, four women between the ages of 25, 27, 28, and 30 years, and six men between the ages of 28, 35, 40, 42, 45, and 48 years.

He said the cause of the accident was tire blast which led to loss of control.

The Public Relations Officer also said that witnesses told them that one victim was still inside the dam and the rescue team would continue searching.

Tragic Tuesday: APC House Of Reps Candidate, Ejikeme Omeje, Dies In Road Accident

Ejikeme Omeje, the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representative candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, is dead.

Omeje, a top party candidate in Enugu North Senatorial Zone, died in a motor accident on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, along Eden Ani/Nsukka road, near El-Rina hotel Nsukka.

An APC stakeholder from the zone who confirmed the incident to journalists said it occurred when he was driving back from Edem-Ani town after a political gathering.

He was said to be driving alone along the Erina-Edem Ani road in Nsukka, when he suddenly lost control, and his car veered into the bush, hitting a tree in the process.

He was rushed to the hospital but later died early Tuesday morning as a result of serious injuries sustained in the accident.

Also confirming the incident, the State Secretary of the APC in Enugu State, Mr. Robert Ngwu, described it as shocking.

SAD: Labour Party’s Zonal Chairman Dies In Car Accident

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP,  is in mourning following the death of one of the party’s Zonal Chairmen in Kaduna State, Mallam Lawal Garba.

Garba lost his life in a fatal road car crash along the Kaduna-Zaria road on his way back home from the party’s engagement with Northern stakeholders in Arewa House, Kaduna, on Monday, October 17, 2022.

In a statement signed by the Chief Spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, in Abuja, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, Obi said,  he was saddened by the news of the sudden death of Mallam Lawal Garba.

Obi was quoted as describing the news of Mallam  Garba’s death, ” just an hour after left us as devastating and shocking.

“He was a great party leader, a great guide and adviser to the Labour Party in the planning and prosecution of the Presidential Campaigns

“My heart goes to the family, the teeming Labour Party members, the Obidients family, the entire people of Tudun Wada and the Kaduna State in general.”

The Elder Statesman had joined other party faithfuls to see off the presidential candidate and his vice, Datti Baba Ahmed, who were returning to Abuja after the engagement at the Arewa House to the Kaduna Airport and was going back home when the accident occurred.

Obi noted that the late party chieftain died a matyr because he lost his life fighting to rescue the Nigerian State from total collapse.

The LP Presidential Candidate prayed for God to grant the late patriarch’s soul eternal rest even as he urged members of the party and the Obidients family to work harder to ensure victory for Labour candidates in the forthcoming general elections so that his death will not be in vain.
