President Bill Clinton and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton became grandparents for the first time as their daughter Chelsea gave birth to her first daughter on Friday, September 29, 2014.
The former president took to Twitter to share first photo of his granddaughter who has been named Charlotte with the caption, “Charlotte, your grandmother @HillaryClinton and I couldn’t be happier!”
Ms. Clinton is married to investment banker, Marc Mezvinsky and Charlotte is their first child.
Former President Clinton, still basking in the joy of receiving a new addition to their family, excused himself from attending a fund-raising event and said, “I hope I get an excused absence. You all know my family just got a little bigger and I figure I should stay home where I’m really needed.”

The former president isn’t the only one who shared a family photo with the new baby. The new parents also took to Twitter to share an adorable family photos.
Chelsea Clinton shared the adorable photo below saying, “At 7:03 PM on September 26th, we finally met Charlotte. We’re in love.”
