A kidnapper was caught on Monday morning, June 2, 2014 at Owode Onirin, between Mile 12 and Ikorodu, Lagos after abducting an 11-year-old girl.
The girl was going on an errand along her street in Ogba when the suspect grabbed her hand and asked her to follow him. When she resisted, he rubbed his palm over her face and she suddenly lost all sense of coordination and followed him.

According to an eyewitness, Rita Onwurah, a mob gathered around the suspect after he was caught, and beat him up.

Pleas by the eyewitness to hand over the suspect to the police fell on deaf ears as the mob continued to descend on the kidnapper saying that the police will eventually let him go. Surprisingly, while the lynching was going on, a police patrol van passed by but ignored the crowd and drove away.

Onwurah said she kept pleading with the crowd to take the suspect to the police station. “But with all the shouting, no one was listening to me. Then a teenage boy gets a bottle of petrol & pours on him… then I started to scream,” she said.
As at the time she left the scene, the mob was still interrogating and beating the suspect.
