Army Retires Gen Momoh Over 2014 Ekiti Governoship Election

The Nigerian Army has retired Brigadier General Aliyu Momoh for his involvement in the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Minister of Defence, Dan Ali, disclosed the plan to end General Momoh’s military career in an exclusive interview in Washington, DC.

Ali joined the Nigerian delegation to the US to attend a nuclear power summit convened by President Barack Obama of the United States of America.

The Defence Minister revealed that the army decided to initiate the process of rusticating General Momoh, who was indicted last year by a military panel.

General Momoh led a contingent of soldiers and other security agencies, to Ekiti State who allegedly intimidated voters in the election that removed the incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

 

Army Acting Director of Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, also confirmed to Vanguard last night that Brigadier Momoh had been retired from the Army.
