A victim of theft whose N500,000 was stolen in one of the new generation banks along Rangers Avenue, Enugu State has accused the bank’s security guard of conniving with the perpetrators of the act on Thursday, June 11, 2015.

Akugha Soloo, lamented that CCTV recording displayed how his vehicle was raided at the parking lot of the undisclosed bank while the security guards were calm about the incident.

In a statement on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, Sloo said:  “The security operatives neglected or preferred not to notify me that my car had just been burgled. The least I expected is to be notified, rather than be allowed to drive off as if nothing happened.

“Nobody responded to the blaring of my vehicle’s alarm horn and flashing of lights within the bank premises.

“Meanwhile, it was one of the security men who came and called me,that I was blocking somebody, having withdrawn the money and kept it inside a waste bin basket behind my seat.

“After dropping the money in my vehicle, I had gone back to complete the update of Bank Verification Number, BVN, before the incident occurred.”

The apparently aggrieved man alleged that the police officials of the New Haven Station were being reluctant in carrying out investigation into the incident.

The state police spokesperson, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, urged the victim to quickly do a petition to the commissioner of police.

Amaraizu further assured that the force would look into the matter to decipher the actual events surrounding the theft.
