APC Rejects Results Of Bauchi Council Election

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bauchi State chapter has won all the 20 local government Council Chairmanship seats in the council elections conducted at the weekend.

The party also won all the 320 councillorship seats.

The declaration of the winners of the election was done on Sunday, October 18, 2020, by the Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC, Dahiru Tata, who said that the election was hitch-free and devoid of political unrest.

The Electoral Commission Chairman thereafter presented certificates of return to all the winners and their Deputies in compliance with the Electoral laws and regulations.

The successful Chairmen are Yusuf Garba – Alkaleri; Muhammad BabaMa’aji – Bauchi; Iliya Habila – Bogoro; Waziri Ayuba – Dambam; Mahmud Bello – Darazo and Muhammad Suleiman – Dass.

Others are: Babayo Kasuwa – Gamawa; Dayabu Dariya – Ganjuwa; Usama Saleh – Giade; Abdullahi Maigari – Itas/Gadau; Samaila Jarma – Jama’are; Abdullahi Kuda – Katagum and Garba Musa – Kirfi

Also elected are: Abubakar Muhammad – Misau; Mahmud Hassan – Ningi; Mahmud Abbaa – Shira; Danjuma Mazadu – Tafawa Balewa; Adamu Babanyaro – Toro; Adamu Muhammad – Warji and Yahuza Abdulkadir – Zaki.

However, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected the result of the poll.

The party alleged that security personnel were used by the PDP and the State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC, in making false declaration of winners.

The party which disassociated itself from the ‘broad- daylight robbery of the people’s mandate ‘ said it shall within the confines of the law strive to restore the said mandate at the appropriate time.

The state chairman of the party, Ubah Nana, while addressing journalists at the secretariat on Sunday, October 18, 2020, said: ‘’We reject in totality the purported results and declaration of winners of the Local Government Elections as effected by PDP and BASIEC on 17th October 2020.

‘’Any person sworn into office based on the unlawful PDP/BASIEC results shall be occupying the seat illegally and without the support of his peoples.’’
