“Bitten, Beaten and Raped” – Women Attacked Under Noses Of UN Forces In South Sudan

As reported by The Trent on Monday, June 9, 2014 Angelina Jolie and British foreign secretary, William Hague are to lead a delegation to meet with world leaders in United Kingdom to discuss issues concerning the violation of women’s right all around the world.

As the global summit kicks off, reports coming through, have it that the same menace to be discussed is going on unchecked in South Sudan and right under the noses of the United Nations peace keeping forces.

BBC reports:

A four-day international summit is taking place in London looking at issues sexual violence in conflict zones.

In South Sudan, investigators believe sexual violence is happening on a scale not seen before in the country.

The allegations are extremely hard to verify in the world’s newest state, and claims of rape have been levelled at both government soldiers and rebel forces.

Thousands of South Sudanese now live in camps after a political dispute turned into a civil war.

But even here, under UN protection, women are not safe
