The Ibadan business mogul Arisekola Alao also the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland is dead, according to reports reaching The Trent.

He died on Tuesday, June 18, 2014 at a hospital in Switzerland where he was undergoing treatment for Colon cancer.

His eldest daughter, Khadija, confirmed his death to the News Agency of Nigeria.

Family sources say his body will be flown to Nigeria tomorrow and buried according to Muslim rites.

Alao is a notable Nigerian businessman and contractor who was the publisher of the now defunct Monitor Newspaper. He is considered a wealthy businessman who is known for his causes in support of Islam in Ibadan and his close ties to many of the city’s traditional and religious elites and to various other Yoruba Muslim leaders.

Alao, an Ibadan-based Islamic leader, is noted for his philanthropy towards Islamic causes.

He was the deputy president general of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland until his death.

He is survived by several wives and children.
